One of the strongest and most truthful statements that I have ever heard during Shane’s message called ‘Quenching the Holy Spirit’. If you, me or the church quench the Holy Spirit, He leaves. This is what the Spirit of God said to the leaders of this huge Christian community in India. And we saw, with our very own eyes, the Holy Spirit passing right by hundreds of hundreds of people and leaving the building. That was the most terrifying thing that I have ever seen. A church that sings about Him, talks about Him and gathers in his name being rejected by Him, because they rejected Him first.
But where did He go? He went out to meet the little hungry ones. After the meeting we saw an unexpected move of the Spirit among orphans, Hindu and Christian kids from the age of 8 to 21. In the dark, behind a run down building, where nobody could think of, here is the….The Wind of the Spirit giving birth! “You must be born out of water and blood” Shane said in his Born From Above message.
My eyes saw the glory of the Lord. The next day the same thing happened during a leader’s conference. No hunger inside the building but as soon as we left, the kids on the street experience for the first time a touch from Him, and He was ready to leave the building again.
Our trip to India restored in all of us the fear of the Lord concerning respecting. Honouring and not ignoring the will of the Holy Spirit. Lord forbid if we do anything to quench his Holy presence. We have recommitted ourselves to do only where He is going and to say only when He is speaking. We don’t want to be even one inch ahead of Him but right next to Him in His every move. Out of this brokenness, the message First Works by Shane w. Roessigner was birthed last Sunday. May the fire of His love consume us all!
