Joshua was very excited. He was going to be a dad in the New Year. He had been working in Canberra for the government as an astronomer and also organised events for top level dignities, such as royalty, presidents and prime ministers when they visited the country.
It was Christmas Eve, the airport was busy. Hundreds of people were waiting for flights to take them home for Christmas. It was Joshua’s turn at the departure desk. “I would like to be on the next flight to Darwin.” “I’m sorry sir, but all flights to Darwin are cancelled until further notice. The city has been hit by a severe cyclone” said the young lady behind the desk. Joshua trembled, his heart sunk, he turned to walk away. As he looked up from the ground he saw something strange. In the huge crowd there were two men standing next to each other. There seemed to be a very bright light shining from behind each of them. Joshua was drawn to them. He manoeuvred his way through the crowd to David and Jo. They, too, were expectant dads wanting to return to their beloved wives for Christmas and to await the coming of their first born in the new year. Was this a huge coincidence? No, there are no coincidences in Father God’s planning. David was a voice to the government for farm management and Joe organised teams for the government to build houses for the poor across Australia.
Joshua said, “Come! I have a leer jet, we leave for Darwin now.” The three boarded and the jet left. Joshua didn’t know if there was enough fuel to get there but said nothing of it to his new companions. It is a flight of many hours to Darwin but as they approached, visibility was almost nil. Then, again, there was that strange light ahead of the them, the one Joshua had seen in the terminal behind David and Joe. Joshua was drawn to the light and followed it as it descended. The plane should have been pounded to pieces by the storm that was battering it but angels were surrounding it and keeping it steady. The plane landed. It was not the airport but was an old WWII air strip where these three ‘to be dads’ use to play as children. They followed the light again to the hospital nearby, on the out skirts of the city. The devastation all round was horrendous and each secretly wondered if their wives could have survived what was happening to Darwin. There was nothing left of the hospital, it had been blown clean away. The light allowed no time for grieving but led them to an old structure next door. It was made of thick stone and was once used to hold animals ready for export. It still had straw on the floor. The three dads entered and there were the patients and staff evacuated from the hospital and there were their dearly loved wives.
The structure was brightly lit but you couldn’t see any source of lighting. Three beautiful babies were born that night in the eye of the cyclone. There was much rejoicing! Christmas had been blown away just as it had for their grandparents many years before when the enemy bombed the city continually. Each dad remembered their parents speaking of a great light that covered their house and none of those houses were destroyed.
In the early hours of the morning the storm still raged, the roof was blown off the old structure but not a drop of water or breath of wind entered, there were many lights forming a seal over the stable, the place of life. These were His heavenly angels sent to protect those being saved. Then, as the new mums and dads gave thanks for the safe delivery of their precious newborns, Jesus entered into the midst of them and said ‘Don’t be afraid!’ He then went to the little ones and whispered deep within their spirits, “I am coming back very soon!” The parents remembered those words for they were spoken to them by their parents when Jesus had appeared to them in the bombings of WWII.
Those chosen ones grew in stature and strength. The very first word on their lips was not ‘muma’ or ‘dada’, no, it was ‘Jesus.’ Wherever they went they would speak from their spirit, “Jesus is coming back very soon.”
Just like Jesus’ mother Mary, each Christmas they would ponder the things they had treasured up in their heart and would glorify and praise God for all they had heard and seen the day Christmas was blown away.
